Representing an association of elected public officials is a distinct honor. I will lead a group that has not sought the comfort end cynicism of life's sidelines. I represent men and women who have entered the arena and dared to make a positive difference, In COANJ we work with New Jersey's Sheriffs who shoulder the daunting responsibility of securing our county courthouses and jails. We work with County Clerks and Registrars who are accountable for diversely essential jobs such as the recording of deeds and the supervising of elections. ln COANJ we represent our Surrogates; New Jersey's only elected judges who are responsible For the probating of wills, appointment of estate administrators and the designation of guardians.

COANJ is not merely a convenient abbreviation; it is a proud and vital organization. It's members guide, lend, and help our citizens everyday. The importance of one work is directly reflected in the lives we touch. Whether it be those first time home buyers recording their deed, a sheriff's officer quieting a turbulent courtroom, or a family in sorrow probating a will, people look to us and depend on us. The public gives us prized possessions, their time and their trust. I know you feel as I do, we cannot and will not let them down. Guided by that principle, I will be accessible, open to constructive suggestions, and tireless in my dedication that COANJ services its members and most importantly the public with distinction.
